Taking A Car Manufacturer To Court: A little-known federal law, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, can make a big difference for car purchasers who get stuck with a lemon. Reason: If the manufacturer won’t live up to its warranty obligation, you can sue and collect attorneys’ fees, in addition to your other damages. Result: Complaints that ordinarily wouldn’t justify a lawsuit because of the expense of litigation are now worth pursuing.

When does it pay to hire a lawyer in an auto-warranty dispute?
When you have had no satisfaction from the dealer or from the auto manufacturer’s zone representative. We generally get three kinds of cases:
• The company wants to keep trying to fix the car, even though numerous repair attempts have been unsuccessful.
• The company insists that the car is operating “within specifications,” although the problem persists.
